Description
The Vertical Route circuit has 6 activities equipped with different materials: Via Ferrata, Rappel, Stairs, Hanging bridge, Zipline, and Rope Swing. This tour is located in Chuspipata - Eco Via entrance of the "Camino de la Muerte", Yungas Municipality of Coroico. Here is an explanation of the activities to be performed:
Vias Ferratas
Both vertical and horizontal (flanking) routes are equipped with different materials: nails, clamps, dams, handrails, chains, suspension bridges, and zip lines that allow safe ascent to areas that are difficult to access for hikers or people not used to climbing.
Rappel
It is a technique of descent by ropes on vertical surfaces by means of a brake system.
ZipLine
Consists of a pulley suspended by cables mounted on a slope or incline. They are designed to be gravity driven and the person can slide from the top of the cable to the other end.
Tibetan Bridge:
It is a suspension bridge formed by three cables arranged in a triangle; you walk on the central cable and the other cables serve as handrails.
Rope Swing
A swing created with a rope that swings by tying one end of a rope to an elevated structure.
Circuit difficulty:
- The maximum point of height in the Vertical Route circuit is approx. 60 meters.
- The route of the circuit is approx. 30 meters in vertical rock.
- The circuit has two rappels, the first one is approx. 15 meters and the second one is approx. 30 meters.
- The Tibetan bridge is approx. 30 meters long
- The zip line is approx. 100 meters long.
Itirenary
- 7:30 am Departure from La Plaza Uyuni in Miraflores to Chuspipata (Eco Via).
- 10:00 am Arrival to Chuspipata. The guides will make a brief explanation of the circuit and the use of the equipment.
- 10:45 am Start of the Circuit: Rappell, Tibetan Bridge, Via Ferrata, Zip Line, Snack and Rope Swing.
- 16:00 pm Return to La Paz
- 18:30 pm Arrival at Plaza Uyuni to La Paz.
What to bring:
- Comfortable clothing - Preferably trekking boots or shoes with grip, sun hat, waterproof windbreaker jacket, and a pair of gloves.
- Complete change of clothes
- Insect repellent and sunscreen
- Extra snack (Recommended)

NOTE: Punctuality is very important because the whole circuit takes approximately 6 hours and the return from Chuspipata should be at 16:00 at the latest to ensure the safety of everyone. The estimated time of the circuit considers that people can repeat activities, however, if the departure is automatically delayed this possibility is postponed for safety reasons.
