SOME TOURISTIC INFORMATION THAT CAN BE OF INTEREST

You have different options to visit the Salar de Uyuni:

  • One-day tour: The best option for those who want to experience the salt flat but are short on time and/or money. The full day tour starts and finishes in Uyuni on the same day. The first stop is the Train Cemetery, followed by the town of Colchani, where you can buy local salt and textile ornaments and have lunch. After lunch, the tour goes into the Salar, to Incahuasi Island, or Isla del Pescado. Tours return to Uyuni at around 6:00pm.
  • Three-day tour: This tour is the most recommended to enjoy everything that the Salar de Uyuni has to offer. The first day is the same as the above one-day tour. The first night is spent in one of the salt hotels within the Salar. The second and third days are spent visiting colorful lagoons, where you can see flamingos, hot geysers, strange rock formations and bathe in hot springs. It’s also possible to hop over the border at the end of the tour, connecting to San Pedro de Atacama, Chile.
