TRAVEL OPTIONS FROM TARIJA TO VILLAZÓN

Direct trip: There is a direct bus from Tarija to Villazón. The journey takes around 6 hours and the buses leave at 09.00am. to 21.00pm. Please note that passengers have to pay a small bus terminal fee of 2.5 Bs (about US$0.30) before boarding the bus. The company offering service on this route is Trans Villa del Norte (semi lie-flat bus).
Travel with stopover: We also have options to travel with stopover and change buses in Potosi or Sucre. In these options, the buses leave at night from Tarija and arrive in Potosi or Sucre early in the morning, the next trip to Villazon also leaves at night so it is a good option to get to know a little of these cities during the day.

SOME TOURISTIC INFORMATION THAT CAN BE OF INTEREST

There are not many tourist activities in this small border town, which is mainly used for border crossing to Argentina.

Museo Etnográfico Mosojñan: In La Quiaca, on the other side of the border, you can visit a museum about the indigenous history and culture of the region
Border: Villazón is separated from La Quiaca by an international bridge with Bolivian immigration on one side and the Argentinian on the other.
Food: There are hearty and cheap menus available upstairs at the municipal market, from about 8 Bs. Around the bus terminal in Villazón, there is an abundance of reasonably priced eateries.
Accommodation: There is an abundance of cheap hostels between the bus terminal and the railway station, so accommodation will not be a problem.
