In order to travel from Machu Picchu, to the Bolivian city of La Paz you have to divide the trip in two segments, first from Machu Picchu to Cusco by train, and then from Cusco to La Paz in a direct bus. The traintakes around two hours, covering a distance of 74 km. The trains leave every day from the train station in Machu Picchu pueblo, located in the Las Orquídeas neighborhood.

Once in Cusco you must go to the main bus terminal, located on Vía Evitamiento, to continue your trip. The bus takes around 12 hours to go from Cusco to La Paz either through Copacabana or Desaguadero. The later being the shorter route. The distance between Cusco and La Paz is 640 km. The buses arrive in La Paz at the Bus Terminal, located on Peru Av.
